Terrell Sterling
DASB President
Students welcome your new DASB president Terell Sterling. He is a studious young man with various goals and aspirations for his life.
At first running for DASB president was nowhere on Sterling’s agenda, because he was taking 24 units at the time and it seemed that was more than he could handle. Somehow with the encouragement and persuasion of friends he decided to begin his campaign for DASB president.
His goal for the upcoming year was change and he decided to call his campaign “Change in 08,” which is exactly what he is planning to do.
One major project Sterling is focusing on is to involve De Anza students with school clubs and keep them more in sync with their school.
Although many students do involve themselves with senate activities, the majority are too busy for anything else but class.
Enter Sterling.
He is trying to come up with a solution that allows more connectivity with the students and the senate. Sterling and the senate are also moving forward with the Farmers Market at De Anza, which will allow local growers to sell their organic goods at the De Anza flea market. Lastly he wants to increase the benefits of your DASB cards.
Sterling is 20 years old and graduated from Homestead high in 05’. He is in a committed relationship and enjoys spending time with loved ones when he is not busy with school or the Senate.
Aside from the Senate, Sterling is very active and goal oriented in his school work. He is planning to major in organizational psychology and he would like to transfer to UC San Diego or USC.
As well as taking many classes, he is on the swim team and the tallest diver on the team, playing the trumpet is another passion of his as well.
Sterling is very dedicated to the students and meeting their needs.
It’s assuring to know that decisions he and the senate will make will help make a difference for current and future De Anza students.

Valery Nguyen
Executive Vice President
Being an international student is very difficult. You are away from home, missing your family and dealing with school work at the same time. For the new DASB executive vice president being an international student is a blessing which he is embracing and taking advantage of in every way. His name is Valery Nguyen and is of Vietnamese decent but a citizen of France which has been his home his entire life.
Nguyen is 19-years-old and recently came to the United States to pursue his education. He is majoring in Biologic Engineering and loves to play sports such as ping-pong, soccer and volleyball. As well as taking on several classes, he is also a tutor in English.
Nguyen heard about the DASB senate last quarter through a friend and felt that he could change certain aspects of campus life. Nguyen, as well as many DASB senators feel that there is a gap between the students and the senate and most, if not all members of the senate, are dedicated to filling that void.
There are many projects in projects that the senate is focusing on but a couple important Nguyen. First, he is dedicated to improving the connectivity between students and decisions that are made by the Senate. The DASB is focused on representing the students, and Ngueyn feels that the majority of the student body should voice their thoughts and opinions rather than only a small portion of students voicing their ideas.
The following year for the DASB looks promising, because of their leadership in the senate. Nguyen is a dedicated individual who is concerned with the problems that are affecting De Anza students.
He is passionate about making students at De Anza more involved so they can have a better experience at their school.
It will be a productive year for him as well as the rest of the senate.
