Now that you’ve learned everything there is to know about Internet TV, I bet you are itching to watch some free TV. Listed below are several Web sites that are useful
Hulu.com
Hulu is an online video service that offers free American TV shows, movies and short video clips. It was found by NBC Universal and News Corp., but is operated independently by another company. Hulu offers some of the highest quality with the less lag compared other Web sites. The site contains the newer episodes of most hit TV series, including Family Guy, the Office, the Daily Show with Jon Stewart and many others. This site is perfect for those who want to catch up on an missed episode.
Tudou.com
Tudou.com is a Chinese version of YouTube. It works exactly the same way, users uploading their own clips for others to enjoy. The difference is, YouTube’s videos are mostly shot by users themselves while Tudou’s videos can range from recorded American TV shows with Chinese subtitles to sports matches. I give this site four stars because you can find a complete season’s worth of a show here, instead of just the latest episodes. The only drawback: the site is in Simplified Chinese. However using a site translator service, like BabelFish, works well.
FreeTube
FreeTube is a true television emulator. It streams over a hundred live TV channels from all over the world. All you have to do is pick a category (like News, Entertainment or Sports) and choose from a list of channels associated with that category. This site would have a five star rating if not for the lack of general channels. Most channels provided are highly specific, like The Food Network.
Veoh.com
Veoh is very like Hulu. They provide most of the same shows, Veoh even gets some of their content from Hulu. The major difference is that Veoh also allows users and small-time publishers to upload videos to publicize their work. Veoh’s goal is similar to that of Pandora.com, to help people discover new video content from what they already like. It didn’t get as high a score as Hulu because its videos are lower quality and the connection is slower.
HOT SHOW # 1
“Grey’s Anatomy” will be even hotter this year because Katherine Heigl, known on the show as “Izzie” might die. Yes, the actress managed to piss off writers and producers so much, that they decided to give her a brain tumor on the show and make her sweat. It all started last year when Heigl publicly withdrew her name from the Emmy nominations
HOT SHOW # 2
“Kath and Kim” is based on the Australian hit comedy of the same name. The show stars Molly Shannon as Kath, the 40 year old divorcee with what seems to be a fabulous sex life. Kath’s life of fun and leisure is rudely interrupted when her twenty something spoiled brat of a daughter, played by Selma Blair, decides to move in with her.
HOT SHOW # 3
“Heroes” is back with a twist. “Heroes” season three: Villains on NBC is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Our favorite Heroes will be back and they will be accompanied by their nemesis. Rumor has it that Hiro’s nemesis will be a woman with lightning speed.
HOT SHOW # 4
“My Own Worst Enemy,” starring Christian Slater, is about Slater who plays a middle-class guy living a boring suburban life. Edward Albright is an operative who speaks 13 languages and can kill with his teeth. The twist is that Henry and Edward share the same body. The plot itself is so unique that I doubt the show will fail.
HOT SHOW # 5
What makes “Prison Break” so great is that these poor guys never seem to get out of prison. Leave it to the Fox network to find new ways to get two white guys in and out of jail. This fall, Michael is framed and finds himself in a Panamanian prison unlike anyone has ever seen. Get ready for a whole lotta adventure which will include a murderous prison riot and much more
NOT SHOW # 1
First flop of the fall, “Brooke Hogan Knows Best,” on VH1. With people starving to death and facing genocide on a daily basis in other countries, it physically pains me to watch another blonde brat whining about how hard her life is.
NOT SHOW # 2
“American Idol” has strong ratings but seriously, how many times can you watch people make asses out of themselves before it gets boring.
NOT SHOW # 3
“Knight Rider” is a remake of a show that David Hasselhoff starred in the 80’s. The show is about a talking car that goes on adventures. The end.
NOT SHOW # 4
“New York goes to Hollywood” is a flop and worth mentioning. Reality TV diva Tiffany Pollard aka New York is back. Honestly, this loud mouth ninja turtle looking girl needs to just collect her VH1 dinero and just go away quietly.
NOT SHOW # 5
“Lipstick Jungle” is a watered down “Sex and the City”. All I have to say is why get a burger when you can have steak on TBS.
